World Bank to provide grant for sustainable development of Dniester river

The Republic of Moldova will receive a grant of 7.9 million dollars to expand sustainable landscape management practices in the Dniester River basin. An agreement to this effect is to be signed shortly with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), according to Parliament's press release.

The funds are intended to finance the project Ecosystem Restoration for Marine Pollution Prevention.

The project aims to reduce pollution, restore forest and aquatic ecosystems, and enhance resilience capacity to climate change. Expected outcomes include improving the quality of life in communities near the Dniester River, providing natural resources and creating jobs.

The project will be implemented in 2026 - 2030 by the National Environmental Projects Implementation Office, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Finance.
