Spokesman for government says Moldova target of informational war, people who watch with truth in souls do not fall into slumber of lies

Moldova is facing a complex informational war, targeted by coordinated digital campaigns that undermine citizens' trust in state institutions and democracy. The government's spokesperson, Daniel Voda, has made statements to this effect, referring to a recent analysis by experts from Romania's Expert Forum (EFOR).

According to the analysis, in the last 30 days, thousands of TikTok videos have been monitored and hundreds of inauthentic accounts were identified, representing neither real people nor artificial intelligence-generated avatars, fake profiles, or impersonal accounts created to manipulate public opinion.

The digital campaigns pursue three main goals: a direct attack on President Maia Sandu and the government, exploiting ethnic and regional tensions, such as the case of Gagauz autonomy or division between Romanian and Russian speakers, and amplifying panic through alarmist news about Moldova, the European Union, Ukraine and the country's neighborhood.

In the context, Daniel Voda emphasized the importance of accurate information and citizens' responsibility.

"Democracy brings internal understanding, and from outside, investors, partners, and neighbors have trust in a country where there are clear rules and respect for people. Those who watch with truth in their souls do not fall into the slumber of lies. Truth protects democracy. Truth protects Moldova," said the official.

The government urges citizens to verify information sources, avoid sharing unchecked content and think critically, in order to counteract the manipulative effects of disinformation.

This situation highlights the need for enhanced vigilance in the digital environment and media education, so that citizens can discern between authentic content and coordinated campaigns aimed at destabilizing society, the government’s representative added.
