
New generation of doctors
Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy has kicked off the new academic year with the traditional welcome ceremony, during which 1,280 freshmen took student oath.
The event was inaugurated by first vice-rector of USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu' Olga Cernețchi, who welcomed them 'great international family of Alma Mater' and presented them with the symbols of medicine – white coat and stethoscope.
'Wear the medical coat with care and dignity. It is a symbol of perseverance and nobility of the profession you have chosen,' she said.
Vice-Rector for Clinical Activity Marcel Abraș noted that the young people have chosen a path of great responsibility, in an age of artificial intelligence where empathy and patient care remain irreplaceable.
The event was also attended by government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor and State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Angela Paraschiv, who emphasized the importance of training a new generation of doctors and the need for reforms to provide them with competitive conditions in the country.
In total, by 2025, 1,228 young people have passed the admission contest for undergraduate and integrated programs, of which 770 are in Medicine, 128 in Dentistry, and over 400 in other medical specialties.
