Moldova joins Hague Convention
Today Parliament passed the final vote on the bill ratifying Moldova's accession to the Hague Convention for Pacific Settlement of International Disputes.
The Convention establishes an international legal framework to prevent the use of force and provides mechanisms for international arbitration and justice intended to facilitate the peaceful resolution of disputes between states.
Through this accession, the Republic of Moldova commits to exclusively resorting to peaceful means, negotiations, mediation, inquiry, and conciliation in the event of international disagreements.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the treaty will strengthen international partners' confidence and reinforce the Republic of Moldova's status as a committed actor in maintaining regional peace and security.
Currently, the Hague Convention has been ratified by 124 parties, including all member states of the European Union.
