New session of EcoVoucher Program launched

Another 6,578 families in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from vouchers to purchase new energy-efficient appliances, thereby reducing their electricity bills. The support is provided as part of a new session of the Voucher Program, which was launched today and will run until June 15.

The vouchers are valued at 6,000 lei and are distributed in consecutive sessions based on data provided by households on the platform compensatii.gov.md. Priority is given to families with many children and those with two or three elderly members over 63 years old.

According to CNED, the voucher is only valid during the active session period and can only be used in the network of partner stores for purchasing refrigerators, including those with integrated freezers (class A, B, C, and D) and washing machines (class A) that meet energy efficiency criteria and European Conformity standards.

Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu said that this program is a long-term solution to reduce public bills, as well as to achieve national goals for reducing energy waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

“For Norway, supporting vulnerable households in the Republic of Moldova is a priority. We proudly note that the EcoVoucher program significantly impacts families' lives while promoting social equality and sustainability in the energy sector,” stated Kamilla H. Kolshus, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy Office of Norway in Chișinău.

The EcoVoucher Program was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the European Union. The current edition is financed by Norway and implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy within the project Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova (E4M). E4M is a project implemented by GIZ together with the Government of Moldova, funded by the German Government and co-financed by the European Union, Norway, and Denmark.

In the current edition of the program, it is estimated that up to 32,000 families will receive support. In the first two sessions this year, over 10,600 households received financial aid to purchase new and energy-efficient equipment, and since the program's launch over 25,000 families have replaced an old appliance through EcoVoucher.
