Moldova's Foreign Affairs Ministry issues travel alert for Middle East

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) recommends that citizens of Moldova avoid any non-essential travel to the Middle East region, given the current security context. The institution urges people to get information only from official sources and to keep in contact with the country’s diplomatic missions accredited in the concerned states.

According to the MAE, citizens who are already in countries in the region are urged to exercise increased vigilance, to follow constantly the information provided by local authorities and to strictly comply with the security instructions issued in emergency situations.

“At present, more Middle Eastern states have imposed restrictions on the use of their airspace, which may affect airline schedules. In the context, citizens are advised to stay in contact with airlines and travel agencies, to check flight status regularly and to consider alternative travel options only insofar as they do not involve additional security risks,” the MAE announced.

Citizens are encouraged to provide their contact details to the diplomatic missions of Moldova in the region, so that they can be promptly informed and contacted in emergency situations.

At the same time, individuals can contact the diplomatic missions in the region, in order to receive consular assistance. The full list of diplomatic missions and contact details is available at: https://mfa.gov.md/ro/misiuni.
