
Moldovan government informs about continuation of Generation of Forest - over 8,000 people plant about 1.3 million trees
Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Environment Ministry and the Moldsilva Forestry Agency, under the aegis of President Maia Sandu, on 11 November started the national programme on afforestation titled, Generation of Forest. At a news conference after the cabinet meeting, the spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, referred to the preliminary results of the afforestation campaign, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„According to data made available by decision-makers of the Environment Ministry, about 8,000 people from 142 institutions planted about 1.3 million trees on 275 hectares, most trees being acacia and oaks. Another over 5,000 people has so far registered to participate in the national programme on afforestation due on 18 November,’’ Daniel Voda said.
The planting campaign is carried out during November-December 2023. In this respect, grounds available for plantings were tilled on an overall area of more than 4,000 hectares and about 35 million trees were prepared.
