Moldovan PM says government to come up with security, financial guarantees for prosecutors, judges assuming difficult files
Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government will come up with a list of security guarantees and financial guarantees for the prosecutors and judges due to assume the difficult files, in order to protect and support them in the fight against offenders. Prime Minister Dorin Recean today evening made statements to this effect while unveiling changes in policies and in the governmental team.
The prime minister said that the results in the justice sector did not boil down only to policies and that the country needed now, more than aver, law-enforcers who enforce the law firmly.
„I think that the greatest expectations are in Justice. They are quite clear and the people want a simple thing – doing justice. The people want those who infringed the law to be punished, no matter the name and to be punished toughly, just as the law sees. Unfortunately, the reality, yet, looks differently. Even if we have some progress, I want to stress that the results do not boil down only to policies. Now, we need, more than ever, law-enforcers who enforce the law firmly,’’ the PM emphasized.
The prime minister also said that the vetting process started yielding results and it must be finished, ‘’no matter how much resistance and opposition are to this process.’’
The PM underlined that the justice was not only about laws, but also about people with character. He noted that ‘’due to the determined actions and firm actions of law-enforcers,’’ the reforms developed will be able to be really implemented.
„Nevertheless, I should recognize that we still do not have enough courageous and dedicated people in the system. There are still such people there, but only they must be encouraged. I have said and I repeat: the justice is not only about laws, not only about structures; it is not only the about Criminal Code or the Criminal Procedure Code. The justice is also about people with character. We can continue working on laws, just as the Justice Ministry has done so far; but I am firmly sure that only due to the determined actions and firm actions of the law-enforcers and of the prosecutors and prosecutors, along with those who investigate crimes, only this will help us really implement the reforms developed,’’ the prime minister also said.
Dorin Recean noted that he had discussed with the representatives of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors (CSP) and ‘’all of them unanimously expressed their support for the implementation of the reforms already elaborated.’’ We need characters in the justice act and I know that there are prosecutors and judges who are expecting to show their dedication to the law, to show the fact that they care about this country and therefore, the government will come up with a list of security guarantees and financial guarantees for the prosecutors and judges who will assume the difficult files, the complex files, in order to protect and support these prosecutors and judges in the fight against offenders. I am confident that Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru will be able to fulfill these goals,’’ Dorin Recean said.
At the same time, the PM thanked the prosecutors and judges who, along with the police, with the National Anticorruption Centre, as well as other institutions mobilized and ‘’we coped with the attempt to distort the democratic vote.’’
Prime Minister Dorin Recean today announced changes in the governmental team. Thus, Vladimir Bolea steps down from the position of Agriculture and Food Industry Minister and takes over the leadership of the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry. Bolea will be replaced at the Agriculture Ministry by Ludmila Catlabuga and Daniela Misail-Nichitin will replace Adrian Efros at the head of the Interior Ministry.
