Moldovan police detect drugs worth over two million lei
Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the Centru Department of the National Investigations Inspectorate (INI), under the leadership of prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crimes and Special Causes (PCCOCS) have disclosed an illegal business with drugs. Following searches, 8 kg of drugs worth 2 million lei were raised.
According to the police, a 36-year-old man from the Orhei district was detained, who was member of a crime ring involved in the sale of marijuana-type drugs in particularly large quantities on the territory of the Chisinau and Orhei municipalities.
Thus, during searches made at the man’s home, as well as in auxiliary rooms, including the ones placed on the border of a lake in a settlement from the Orhei district, the following things were detected and raised: 3 3-litre jars, 2 jars of 1.5 litres, filled with broken up and dried marijuana, a cistern of 50 litres, 4 bags and a plastic box with dried marijuana plants, preserved in bags, ammunitions, mobile phones, as well as other objects and instruments meant for activities of illegal drugs’ circulation.
Eight kg of drugs were raised in all and their estimated value is of 2 million lei.
A criminal file was opened on the concerned case and if found guilty, the man runs the risk of being sentenced to 7-15 years of imprisonment.
