Attendees at the event wrote messages on boards set in front of the Embassy on behalf of silenced, arrested or even killed journalists.

The event was organized by the Center for Independent Journalism (CIJ), as part of Press Freedom Days and has been taking place in our country for the fourth year in a row.

"This year we organized the action with titled, We Write on Behalf of Those Who Can No Longer Speak. We refer to our journalists colleagues from Ukraine; dozens of them have died in this war, as well as from other countries, who went to cover the war and lost their lives there. We also refer to those who have been condemned in Russia for having the courage to speak the truth and can no longer write now. Not in the least, from the messages we've seen and displayed here, we continue to denounce Russian disinformation, falsehoods and propaganda," said Nadine Gogu, executive director of CIJ.

Among the messages written on the boards set outside the Embassy, there are Truth cannot be hidden behind bars" "Free information, free nation, Without a free press, there is no democracy, When truth is silenced - propaganda is the only narrative.
