New facilities for people with disabilities in Moldova: importers of transport means to benefit from customs duties' cancellation
People with locomotor disabilities who have imported transportation means will benefit from a cancellation of customs debts and related penalties. The parliament today voted, in its second reading, on a draft law that provides for this measure.
The initiative belongs to a group of deputies from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and aims to correct a legislative gap that, until now, has not allowed for the forgiveness of debts accumulated unintentionally, because of the lack of a clear legal framework.
The draft law supports people with locomotor disabilities who have imported vehicles without fraudulent intentions, but later found themselves facing considerable customs obligations and penalties.
At the same time, the law introduces changes in the field of medical insurance. Individuals who have paid the fixed-sum medical insurance premium, but later became employed, will be able to request a refund of the amount paid. The aim is to avoid double taxation and ensure a fair fiscal system.
