Moldova joins International Solar Alliance

Moldova has officially joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The parliament ratified the Framework Agreement on the establishment of this global cooperation platform.

According to authorities, Moldova's accession to the ISA will support the development of national capacities for solar energy production and usage by enhancing cooperation between public institutions and the private sector.

Solar energy is one of the most important domestic resources of the country, and integration into the ISA aligns with Moldova's commitments in the renewable energy field. Presently, the total installed capacity for electricity production in the country has reached 657 megawatts, contributing to reducing dependency on imports enhancing the sustainability of the national energy system.

ISA provides a dedicated cooperation platform among solar-rich countries. Thus, the global community—including governments, international institutions, corporations and other stakeholders—can contribute to the shared goal of increasing solar energy usage. The International Solar Alliance has nine comprehensive programmes, each focusing on a distinct application that could contribute to the widespread implementation of solar energy solutions.
