Moldova's foreign affairs minister, Ambassador of Slovakia discuss bilateral cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has had a farewell meeting with Ambassador of Slovakia to Moldova Pavol Ivan, on the occasion of the completion of his term. The officials discussed the main achievements of the Moldovan-Slovak cooperation in recent years.

The sides welcomed the boosting of the high-level political dialogue, the positive dynamics of trade exchanges and the expansion of cooperation in the economic, energy, education and development cooperation sectors.

Minister Mihai Popsoi expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Slovak Republic to Moldova’s European path, highlighting the importance of leveraging Slovakia’s experience in the process of joining the European Union.

“Thank you for your dedication, personal involvement and contribution to strengthening the relations between our countries. We appreciate Slovakia’s consistent support for the European integration of Moldova. We want to continue developing the bilateral cooperation, building on the solid foundation established in recent years,” Mihai Popsoi said.

The Moldovan diplomacy head also appreciated the assistance provided by Slovakia through the SlovakAid programme, including the support for the implementation of projects focused on energy efficiency, environmental protection, sustainable agriculture and local development. At the same time, he highlighted the potential for expanding economic and investment cooperation, as well as the importance of the direct air connection between Chisinau and Bratislava in stimulating trade, tourism and people-to-people contacts.

For his part, Ambassador Pavol Ivan thanked the Moldovan side for the constructive cooperation throughout his term and reaffirmed Slovakia’s support for the European integration of Moldova.

The diplomatic relations between Slovakia and Moldova were established on February 16, 1993.
