The MPs and officials of the parliament’s Secretariat have come up with a message of support for traditions, in the context of Universal Day of the Traditional Blouse, annually marked on June 24.
"We should wear the traditional blouse with pride and joy every day, we should put it in a place of honor and pass it on to future generations!" reads the message sent by the Moldovan parliament.
Traditional costumes are displayed at meetings, plenary sessions, national and international forums, as well as on other public occasions. Through this gesture, the employees of the legislative institution express their gratitude and respect for ancestral values and traditions.
The traditional blouse and shirt have attracted international attention not only for their beauty, but also for the diversity of ornamental motifs and materials used.
In 2022, the art of the blouse with embroidery was recognized by UNESCO and included in the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The Day of the Traditional Costume is celebrated in Moldova on the last Sunday of June - an additional occasion to bring national identity and authentic cultural values to the forefront.
