Rare medical case: 19-year-old young woman from Moldovan capital gives birth to three baby girls

Three baby girls today were born at the Gheorghe Paladi Municipal Clinical Hospital from Chisinau, following a natural multiple pregnancy. The delivery was performed by cesarean section at 34 weeks of pregnancy. The children are in stable condition, being monitored in the neonatal intensive care unit.

According to the medical institution, the mother is 19 years old; this is her second birth, and she also has a one-year-and-four-months old boy. The baby girls weigh 2,300, 1,540 and 1,690 grams.

"This is a true miracle. The birth of triplets is always a challenge. The girls were born under good conditions and they are in stable condition. They will remain under medical supervision on the coming days," said the obstetrician-gynecologist, the coordinator of the medical team that assisted with the procedure Violeta Saptefrati.

The hospital informed that the medical team had been prepared in advance for this birth, with obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthetists, intensivists, midwives and nurses being mobilized.

Births of triplets are rare in Moldova, and cases of their natural conception are even less frequent.
