
Section of Chisinau-based Mother and Institute renovated, endowed with modern equipment
Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - The obstetric reanimation and gynecology section of the Mother and Child Institute has been renovated and endowed with advanced equipment. The works or repair and endowment were carried out with the financial support of the Health Ministry, World Bank, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the government of Poland and cost 24.5 million lei.
Attending the inauguration event were Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, the director of the Mother and Child Institute, Sergiu Gladun, and the institution’s medical staff.
The health minister stressed the importance of the section for pregnant women and newly born children in critical condition, as well as of the qualitative medical act provided by the section’s employees, who save human lives.
The obstetric reanimation and gynecology section of the Mother and Child Institute is an intensive therapy unit of the level III, the only on in Moldova, which provides multidisciplinary medical assistance to pregnant women and confined women in serious cases. About 850 patients are annually treated here.
According to the Institution’s leadership, the section was set up in 1981 and ten physicians specialists in reanimation and anaesthesiology, ten medical assistants specialized in RTI and ten nurses work there.
