Speaker praises Moldovan wine as symbol of country's revival and European path

The success story of Moldovan wine is deeply intertwined with national history and identity - a testament that tradition, hard work, and passion can transform a sector into a true ambassador for the country. On National Wine Day 2025, Speaker Igor Grosu emphasized the importance of winemakers and their role in promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova abroad.

“The success story of Moldovan Wine is not accidental. We have centuries-old traditions, lands, valleys, and hills ideal for grape growing, but most importantly – we have people who create the best wines in the region, of impressive quality and appreciated worldwide,” he said.

The official noted that the development of this sector reflects the country's ability to overcome crises and emerge stronger.

“The success story of Moldovan Wine is the success story of our country. It has gone through major crises, but each time it has been reborn. What some thought would destroy us, has made us stronger,” he said.

Grosu added that the achievements in recent years have also been due to external partnerships, which have provided Moldovan producers with access to markets and modern technologies.

“Our winemakers did not give up, and with the support of our European and American friends, we succeeded. This year we have a rich harvest in every sense! If Moldovan wines have already integrated into the European Union – especially in Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany – we too, as a country, should follow this path and become part of this great European family,” the official said.

National Wine Day 2025 is celebrated this weekend in Chisinau and across the country, celebrating not only wine but also the people who, through passion and skill, carry forward one of Moldova's oldest and most beautiful traditions.
