Over 400 young teachers hired in schools and kindergartens this academic year
A record number of 426 young teachers have been hired in schools and kindergartens this academic year. The number is increasing compared to recent years, considering that in 2024, 404 young people were hired in educational institutions, in 2023 - 365 and in 2022 - 296.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, out of the total young hires, most opted for positions as teachers (89), educators (74), Romanian language teachers (36) and history teachers (23).
Regionally, most graduates chose to work in institutions in Chișinău, Găgăuzia, Bălți, Orhei and Ialoveni.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that it is a significant achievement for the educational system to see an increasing interest of young people in engaging in education.
"These specialists represent the future of education, and the support we provide through allowances, mentorship, and practical facilities will help them develop professionally and stay motivated in the teaching career," the minister mentioned.
Young specialists who go to work in schools and kindergartens benefit from a one-off allowance of up to 200,000 lei, a 75% discount on teaching hours during the first 5 years, compensation for teaching materials, support for housing and utility costs in rural areas or district centers, up to 62 days of annual leave, and assistance from a mentor teacher.
The distribution contest for graduates with a pedagogical profile took place between June and September 2025, with three stages organized where 600 applications were submitted.
