Term of return of payments by tourism agencies extended in Moldova
Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today voted a draft law on additional measures of support of travellers and economic agents from the tourism industry, in order to attenuate the negative effects triggered by the epidemiological situation (COVID-19).
Thus, through derogation from the provisions of the Civil Code and the law on consumers’ protection, if the traveler has right to the return of the payments made as a result of the contract’s cancellation, the organizer is obliged to return the concerned payments not later that on 30 September 2022.
At the same time, the summons, through which decision-makers demand the return of the payments made as a result of the cancellation of the contracts on the packages of travel services, concluded till 17 March 2020, as well as the ones submitted between 31 December 2021 and the date of the law’s entrance into force, are considered in continuation.
According to data by the Association of National Association of Tourism Agencies, the debts of the tourism agencies and the national tourism operators are estimated at about 1.1 million euros to tourists from Moldova.
