Two south Moldova settlements modernized through state-funded environmental projects
Two localities of the southern Cantemir district, the communes of Cania and Pleseni, are making significant steps towards improving environmental infrastructure, thanks to financial support got from the National Environmental Fund. The projects approved in these communities aim to enhance the waste management process and promote responsible ecological behavior among the residents.
During a visit on site, Gheorghe Hajder, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, discussed with local administration representatives the progress of the projects and the challenges in the environmental protection field.
The commune of Cania will acquire a special vehicle for waste collection, which will significantly improve the sanitation service. The modern equipment will contribute to a more efficient management of household waste and reduce the negative environmental impact.
In the commune of Pleseni, the project involves the procurement of over 2,000 bins for separate waste collection. This initiative is intended to encourage sorting and recycling in households, enhancing ecological awareness at the community level.
"These projects are clear examples of efficient and necessary investments for improving environmental conditions at the local level. They are concrete steps towards cleaner and better-equipped communities," emphasized Gheorghe Hajder.
During the same visit, the sides addressed the issue of protecting water resources. The Tigheci River, which runs through both localities, requires urgent cleaning and ecological rehabilitation work. The official from the Ministry of Environment assured that, in the coming period, representatives from the National Administration "Apele Moldovei" (Moldova’s Waters) would analyze the situation and propose the necessary solutions for revitalizing the watercourse.
The Ministry of Environment reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of settlements through investments in environmental infrastructure.
