
Germany, second largest trade partner of Moldova in EU
Germany is the second largest trade partner of Moldova in the European Union. The bilateral trade volume increased from 556.7 million dollars in 2017 to about 837.5 million dollars in 2024.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization (MDED), a wide range of Moldovan products reach the German market, including fruit juices and nuts, fiberglass, apricots, cherries, sour cherries, peaches, nuts, sunflower seeds.
Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Doina Nistor said that the economic relations between Moldova and Germany were stronger than ever.
“We are proud to see more and more Moldovan products reaching the German market. In 2024, some of them have witnessed remarkable growths,” the official noted.
At the same time, among the top Moldovan products exported to Germany, there are wires and cables, chairs, as well as men’s and boys’ suits.
On the other hand, Moldova imports from Germany a wide variety of goods, including cars, medicines, goods transport vehicles, tractors, semi-trailers, and auto parts.
“This diversity underscores the complementarity of our economies and Germany’s role as a provider of high-quality goods,” MDED said.
Presently, there are 426 enterprises with German capital operating in Moldova and Germany ranks 8th among the top investors in terms of the value of the invested capital.
Romania ranks first place among Moldova's trade partners.
