Moldovan citizens residing in UK to be able to easier exchange driving licenses
Moldovan citizens residing in the United Kingdom will be able to exchange their driving licenses more easily, without the need for additional exams or high costs.
This will be possible, after the cabinet of ministers approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Moldova and the United Kingdom on the mutual exchange of driving licenses.
“The initiative aims to simplify road traffic for citizens of both states, based on mutually agreed provisions. Implementing this Memorandum brings benefits for Moldovan citizens residing in the UK, by simplifying the administrative procedures related to driving rights, reducing the costs and duration of the license exchange process, and facilitating mobility through mutual recognition of licenses,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
Under this Memorandum, driving licenses issued by the authorities of both countries will be recognized and exchanged without the need for theoretical or practical exams, subject to the requirements stipulated in the Memorandum, thus facilitating the process for all those who live and drive in Moldova and the United Kingdom.
“It's clear that we are making life easier for our Diaspora, this time in the UK, but you have noticed that we have been signing more and more such agreements with other countries recently,” noted Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
Moldova has similar agreements with Latvia, Spain, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Albania, and Lithuania. An Agreement with France has been initialed and is set to come into effect, while there is a joint Declaration of Intent in this regard between Moldova and Germany.
