USMF “Nicolae Testemițanu” awarded winners of drawing contest - Doctor – Through Eyes of Child

Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has awarded the winners of the 6th edition of the drawing contest “The Doctor – Through the Eyes of a Child.” The award ceremony brought together the winners, who were accompanied by their parents, teachers, and classmates.

The event was opened by university’s First Vice-Rector Olga Cernețchi, Vice-Rector for Teaching Activity and Academic Management, who emphasized that this contest has already become a beautiful tradition, eagerly awaited both by the participants and by the university community.

“The artworks created by children reflect the most sincere way in which doctors are perceived in society, and the vivid colors, optimistic messages, and emotions conveyed through drawing inspire confidence and gratitude toward medical professions. In these creations, we observe the love, sensitivity, enthusiasm, and sincerity with which they were made. Each drawing tells a story and conveys a unique emotion. Creating such a work requires imagination, patience, and talent, and this deserves appreciation,” said Cernețchi.

The chair of the jury, Liuba Prangache, a university assistant at the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design of Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University, and a full member of the Union of Fine Artists of Moldova noted that the judging process was not simple.

“We had to evaluate numerous valuable works, remarkable for their composition, color scheme, technique, and originality of the message. In the end, we selected the winners according to the criteria of thematic relevance, expressiveness, chromatic harmony, composition, and the authors’ creativity. Many of the works conveyed powerful messages about the doctor’s role and the importance of medical professions. Some participants tried to express several ideas in a single creation through collage, which demonstrates their enthusiasm and desire to share as many thoughts and feelings related to the field of medicine as possible,” she said.

The drawing contest “The Doctor – Through the Eyes of a Child” was launched on World Health Day, April 7, and ended on June 7. This year’s edition brought together 102 students.
