Moment of silence at Government meeting in memory of police officers died in Sângerei

Today’s Government meeting began with a moment of silence in memory of the two police officers who died yesterday in Sângerei, following a serious accident that occurred while they were performing their official duties. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu offered condolences to the families and announced that the Cabinet will provide them with financial support.

“ I express the profound sadness we feel after the tragedy in Sângerei. Two young police officers lost their lives while fulfilling their duty. It is a heavy loss for their families, for their colleagues, and for society as a whole,” said Munteanu.

Two patrol police officers died after being violently hit by a Volkswagen. The impact occurred on Tuesday, June 23, on the R6 road, in the village of Grigorăuca. At the time of the impact, the officers were on the roadside, outside their service vehicle, which was parked in accordance with regulations with its warning lights on. The head of the General Police Inspectorate, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, went to the scene and announced that the driver of the car that hit the two officers declared that he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
