President Maia Sandu today delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. The head of state highlighted the role of the country's citizens, urging them to be "free and strong."
The official spoke about the country, its people, traditions, family and heritage.
"You have preserved Moldova's traditions and gathered families at home. You have worked honestly, taken care of the land, and put good fruit on the table. You have laid brick upon brick, built a school, made a road, constructed a hospital. You have raised your children with love for family and country. You have been on duty and helped thousands of people, you have saved a life, brought beauty into our lives, built a life. You are the future - build on our heritage and be free and strong," said Maia Sandu.
The head of state called for unity, freedom and independence.
"Everything you do means Moldova. When you feel safe, Moldova is safe. When you act freely and independently, Moldova is free and independent. When you choose the right path, Moldova is on the right path. Moldova lives through you, through each working hand, through each loving heart. We forge Moldova's path. Happy Independence Day, Moldova!" Maia Sandu stressed.
The Republic of Moldova today marks the 34th anniversary of the proclamation of its Independence, voted by parliament on August 27, 1991. On this occasion, more festive events will be organized in Chisinau and other regions of the country.
