World record and gold medal for Moldovan athlete Maxim Caraion at World Championships in Milan
Moldovan athlete Maxim Caraion became world champion in Milan after winning the gold medal in the high jump event and setting a new world record with a result of 173 centimeters.
In the final of the competition, the trainee of coach Gleb Zaițev delivered an excellent performance, managing to prevail over his opponents from Senegal, Benin and Italy.
According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee, the performance achieved in Milan confirms the value of the young Moldovan athlete and represents an important result for athletics in the Republic of Moldova.
The World Championships in Milan brought together approximately 500 athletes from 26 countries, who competed in several athletics events.
