Moldova to first ever have national digital sports register
Moldova will the first time will have a national digital sports register. It will bring together on a single platform data about sportspeople, coaches, referees, federations, clubs and other sports structures, in order to facilitate the administration, monitoring and development of public policies in the field.
According to a draft approved by the government today, the new system will use the governmental interoperability infrastructure and the electronic services MPass and MConnect, which will reduce the volume of paper-based documents and the duplication of information.
The creation of the new system is necessary as, until now, data in the field of sports has been managed in a fragmented way, through local registers and separate administrative processes. According to the authorities, this situation created difficulties in monitoring sports performance, preparing statistics and substantiating decisions regarding the development of the sector.
At the cabinet meeting, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that this system would bring together, for the first time, on a single platform, information about sportspeople, coaches, referees and sports structures, providing the necessary tools for better decisions, more efficient services and more transparent management of the field.
“We are investing not only in sports infrastructure, but also in the digital infrastructure that supports the development of sports. Digitalization means less bureaucracy for sports organizations and greater efficiency in the use of public resources,” the minister said.
The regulation also sets out clear mechanisms for access to information, users’ responsibilities and the protection of personal data. All operations carried out in the system will be recorded and access to data will be differentiated according to users’ roles, with additional security measures applied to sensitive information.
