National Folklore Festival gathers singers from Moldova, Romania

Chisinau, 05 June /MOLDPRES/ – Over 20 performers from Moldova and Romania, ten folk groups from districts Sangerei, Rezina, Soldanesti, Orhei, Floresti and Telenesti have participated within third issue of the National Folklore Festival Nicolae Glib, which took place recently at the home of singer, Pepeni village, Sangerei district.

The event was organised by Cultural Foundation Nicolae Glib in collaboration with National Centre for Conservation and Promotion of Immaterial Cultural Heritage, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC).

Interviewed by agency, deputy director of nominated centre, Oleg Volontir, coordinator and director of festival, said the event has aimed to promote traditional indigenous music.

"This year issue was most successful. It was structured in two parts. In the first part the folk ensembles evolved, while in the second and the 20 interpreters: Constantin Rotaru, Nicu Mata, Arseni Botnaru, Igor Cuciuc, Diamanta Patarau, Cornelia Stefanet, Marin Ganciu, Constantin Atodiresei, Claudia Martanica from Romania) etc. They were accompanied by Ensemble of folk songs and dances Fluieras, led by brothers Marcel and Edgar Stefanet. The event ended with a recital by Nicolae Glib and his dynasty. In fact, success of festival is due to fact that it is based on a notorious name for our musical culture," said Oleg Volontor.

Attending the event, director of Romanian Cultural Institute Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau, Valeriu Matei, said that Festival Nicholae Glib has already become a landmark in cultural life of northern part of Moldova and beyond. "A landmark in Romanian cultural landscape. The song of Nicolae Glib, along with the ones of Nicolae Sulac, other valuable interpreters of ours, was a symbol of resistance and affirmation of true values," specified Valeriu Matei.

During the event, there took place ceremony of awarding name of protagonist of the Pepeni Culture House. Interviewed by agency, Nicholae Glib said it was an honour and a joy for him. "I respect decision of the City Hall. It is a joy for me. Maybe it is too much. Let God bring luck to this institution," said singer.

It was also presented a handicraft exhibition at festival, attended by 20 popular craftsmen.

The first issue of National Folklore Festival Nicholae Glib took place in 2014.
