The Ministry of Culture has launched public discussions on the concept, functions, and organizational model of the future “Universul” Cultural Center, a project that aims to become one of the most important spaces dedicated to art and creative industries in the Republic of Moldova.

The event marks the beginning of a broad joint effort to define the vision, purpose, and role of Universul Cultural Center, in dialogue with cultural stakeholders and civil society. The initiative seeks to develop a modern space tailored to the needs of artists and the public.

During the talks, Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan presented the ministry’s strategic priorities for this project.

“Up to today, in addition to approving the budget, we have managed to allocate 6 million lei for designing the construction of the entire building complex. Next month, a tender will be organized to select the company that will handle the design,” said the Minister of Culture.

According to the official, Universul Cultural Center will be conceived as a space dedicated to creators and cultural activities, providing the necessary infrastructure for the implementation of artistic projects.

“This space will be intended for artists; it will be a cultural space. What we aim for is that the project fully includes the spaces outlined in the pre-feasibility study, so that cultural professionals have access to halls where they can carry out their activities,” the minister added.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, in collaboration with the Danish Cultural Institute and the Center for Policies and Reforms.
