ANTA: All regular passenger routes resumed

The National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) announces the full restoration of passenger road transport across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova. According to centralized data from bus station operators, all regular routes have been resumed, thus ensuring the necessary connections between localities after a period of uncertainty marked by economic pressures on the sector.

This normalization of traffic comes in the context of emergency government decisions aimed at stabilizing the transport system, which has been severely affected by major fluctuations in petroleum product prices. The decision to resume the routes is linked to the extraordinary Government meeting of March 26, during which an amendment to the Methodology for calculating fares for regular services in inter-district and district traffic was approved.

The new legal framework allows for a more flexible and transparent adjustment of travel costs, reflecting the realities of the fuel market. Based on these changes, ANTA has approved provisional fares, a measure considered vital to prevent operators from going bankrupt and to guarantee the continuity of the public transport service.

The new fares are differentiated according to the type of traffic and the comfort category of the transport units, and are structured as follows: For regular inter-district services: - Comfort category II: 0.90 lei for each kilometer traveled. - Comfort category I: 1.03 lei for each kilometer traveled.

For regular district services: - Comfort category II: 1.02 lei for each kilometer traveled. - Comfort category I: 1.15 lei for each kilometer traveled. The measures announced by ANTA enter into force with immediate effect. The authorities emphasize that the establishment of these provisional fare ceilings is primarily intended to identify a balance point between the high operating costs of carriers and the purchasing power of citizens.

ANTA assures that it will continue to monitor the quality of services provided and compliance with timetables, calling on operators to maintain safety standards despite the necessary financial adjustments. The evolution of prices will continue to be monitored, with fares remaining provisional until the stabilization of the economic indicators that underpin the methodological calculations.
