Moldova's national football team defeated by Lithuania at friendly match held in Chisinau
The national football team of Moldova has been defeated by Lithuania, 0-2, in a friendly match played at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau.
The visitors opened the scoring on the 33rd minute through Justas Lasickas, and their lead was extended in the second half by Gvidas Gineitis, who set the final score of the game.
The team coached by Lilian Popescu failed to get back into the match, despite making several substitutions throughout the game.
The match was refereed by Henrik Nalbandyan, assisted on the lines by Vanik Simonyan and Sargis Hovhannisyan, all from Armenia, while the fourth official was Dumitru Muntean from Moldova.
More yellow cards were shown during the match. For the hosts, Teodor Lungu and Vladimir Fratea were booked, while for the visitors the cautioned players were Armandas Kucys and Gvidas Gineitis.
Among others, Emil Tîmbur, Vladislav Baboglo, Vadim Rață and Ion Borș played for Moldova’s national team, while on the Lithuanian side, Edmonas Gertmonas, Edgaras Utkus and the goalscorers stood out.
The next match for the Moldovan team is scheduled for March 30 in Nicosia, where they will face the national team of Cyprus. The game will be played at the GSP Stadium and will kick off at 19:00.
