PHOTO // Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets Romanian senators

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with members of the Legal, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations Committee of the Romanian parliament’s Senate. The Romanian officials reiterated their firm support for the European agenda of Moldova, including through technical assistance, legislative expertise and parliamentary cooperation projects.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, during the talks the officials reconfirmed the excellent level of Moldovan-Romanian bilateral relations, based on common values and European principles, as well as on the strategic partnership strengthened over the years.

Minister Mihai Popsoi underlined Romania’s role in advancing the country’s European path.

“Romania is a reliable partner for Moldova, that has stood by us whenever needed. We appreciate the support provided in difficult times, as well as for the development of communities and the implementation of reforms,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The deputy PM thanked Romania for its support in the context of the consequences triggered by Russia’s attacks on the energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine, which affected the operation of the Isaccea–Vulcanesti power line. He also expressed gratitude for Romania’s prompt intervention in managing the pollution of the Dniester River, including for specialized equipment and technical assistance.

The officials also discussed the regional situation and the challenges generated by the impact of the Russia’s aggression war.

The members of the Legal, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations Committee of the Romanian Senate are on a working visit to Chisinau today. The agenda includes meetings with Justice Minister Vladislav Cojuhari and Culture Minister Cristian Jardan. Romanian senators will also have talks with members of the parliamentary friendship group with Romania and lay flowers at the Monument to King Ferdinand I in Ialoveni.
