Construction of bridge across Dniester river at Moldovan-Ukrainian border discussed in Mohyliv-Podilskyi

A new round of discussions within the Moldovan-Ukrainian joint commission on the evolution on the project on construction of the cross-border road bridge at the Moldova-Ukraine border, in the area of the Cosauti and Yampil settlements, took place in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Ukraine, today.

The delegations of the two countries tackled technical and legal aspects on the adjusting of the feasibility study and approved solutions of designing for the construction of the road bridge and the access roads.

„The sides discussed the allocation of a ground to the Ukrainian side, on the territory of Moldova, for the construction of the bridge’s pillars, including of a ground for the site’s organization in the area of the passage of the road bridge, on the period of the construction works. Another important point on the agenda of the discussions was focused on the procedures of crossing the border during the works and the legal aspects concerning the opening of the control post at the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border in the Cosauti-Yampil area,’’ the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry said.

The building of the border road bridge will interconnect the road infrastructures of the two states, on the national road R14.1-Cosauti-border with Ukraine (Moldova) and on the road T-02-02 Mohyliv-Podilsky-Yampil-Kryzopil-Bershad-Uman (Ukraine).

The bridge will also ease the traffic in the country’s northern region and will ensure the connection of the network of roads through the eastern zone of Moldova to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
