Highest voter turnout in Moldova for Romanian presidential election
Over 100,000 citizens voted in the Republic of Moldova for the Romanian presidential elections by Sunday, May 18, at 11:40 AM, marking the highest number of voters recorded in our country for a presidential election from the neighboring state. The voting process continues until 9:00 PM.
This number is a record and surpasses that registered in the first round of the Romanian presidential election, held two weeks ago, when about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.
The voting process abroad, including in the Republic of Moldova, spans three days. In our country, citizens can vote at 64 polling stations. They are open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. In the northern region of the country, 18 polling stations are organized, in the central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 in Chisinau, and in the southern region - 8 polling stations.
According to real-time data provided by the Permanent Electoral Authority, by 11:40 AM, about 878,000 Romanian citizens had voted in the 965 polling stations open abroad.
