Moldovan President casts vote in Romania's presidential elections

President Maia Sandu voted today in the runoff presidential elections. The official voted at the Romanian Embassy in Tirana, after concluding her participation in the European Political Community Summit in Albania.

In a previous message, the head of state urged citizens to turn out in large numbers to vote.

Throughout today, over 28,200 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship have exercised their voting rights. Voter turnout is higher than in the first round, with Moldovan voters among the most active in the diaspora.

On Saturday and Sunday, Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova can vote at 64 polling stations. These will be open from 07:00 to 21:00. In the northern region of the country, 18 polling stations have been organized, in the central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 in Chișinău city, and in the southern region - 8 polling stations.

In Romania's presidential elections, 965 polling stations have been opened abroad. Romanian citizens in the diaspora have three days to vote.

Two candidates are running in the presidential race: AUR party candidate George Simion and independent candidate Nicușor Dan.
