Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister meets Tallinn counterpart

Estonia remains a valuable and trustworthy partner of the Republic of Moldova, committed to supporting modernization efforts and closer ties with the European Union. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi made the statement during a meeting with Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

The two officials discussed advancing Moldova's European path and the priorities of the European agenda for 2025.

Popșoi expressed gratitude for Estonia's ongoing support, including in the context of the decision to open accession negotiations for the Republic of Moldova with the European Union. He also thanked Estonia for its contribution to reforms in our country through development assistance projects.

"Minister Margus Tsahkna reconfirmed Estonia's support for our country's goal of European Union integration. Over the years, Estonia has provided financial support for 271 projects across various areas. Furthermore, it has significantly contributed to digital transformation and cybersecurity enhancement in the Republic of Moldova, including through the support offered by the Estonian e-Governance Academy," Popșoi said.

The two officials also reviewed cooperation within the NB8 format, reflected by the joint visits to Chisinau of foreign ministers and parliament presidents from the region.

On May 16-18, Popșoi is paying a working visit to Tallinn, Republic of Estonia.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Estonia were established on November 10, 1992. In terms of trade volume, the Republic of Estonia ranks 49th globally among the main trade partners of the Republic of Moldova.
