Diesel price reaches new historic low in recent years

Diesel price has reached a new historic low for the past three years, at a level of 18.25 lei per liter, comparable to prices in the period of January 7-11, 2022.

Thus, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) confirms that, after a slight attempt at recovery at the end of April, fuel prices are once again retreating.

ANRE explained that the decrease is due to the decision by OPEC+ to increase oil production by 411,000 barrels/day starting June 1, following a similar increase that was already applied for May.

Additionally, another factor that has influenced the fuel price decrease is the depreciation of the US dollar, whose official exchange rate has reached a level similar to that of November 2020.

Under these conditions, for the next four days, ANRE has set a maximum price of 22.26 lei for a liter of petrol, down by 0.02 lei. For diesel, drivers will pay 0.06 lei less, or 18.25 lei.
