New European training opportunities for professionals; justice minister signs agreement on Moldova’s accession to Academy of European Law

Legal professionals will have access to training programmes and exchange of experience provided by one of the most important European institutions specialized in European Union law – the Academy of European Law in Trier (ERA). The agreement on Moldova’s accession to ERA was signed by Justice Minister Vladislav Cojuhari today.

This step opens new opportunities for training and cooperation for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, civil servants and other specialists of the justice sector.

At the signing ceremony, the minister emphasized that joining ERA represented an investment in the training of those who apply the law and in strengthening the capacity of institutions to work at the level of European standards.

“This step strengthens Moldova’s commitment to improving the quality of the act of justice and to supporting the training of professionals in all legal fields. The European Commission’s 2025 enlargement report shows that our country is making good progress in essential such areas as justice reform, the fight against corruption and the protection of fundamental rights. To ensure the continuity of these reforms, we need well-trained, competent and constantly educated people. Cooperation with ERA will provide the support, expertise and experience needed for the maturation of the entire justice system,” said Vladislav Cojuhari.

Moldova will also become a member of ERA’s Governing Board, with voting rights and the possibility to participate in defining the academy’s strategic directions and training programmes.

“This is a recognition of the results achieved in recent years and a confirmation that our country is no longer just a beneficiary of European expertise, but is becoming a partner that actively contributes to the development of the European justice area,” the minister specified.

During his working visit to Trier, Minister Vladislav Cojuhari had meetings with representatives of ERA and of the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission. The discussions focused on cooperation in the field of justice and on projects that can facilitate the European path of Moldova.

ERA is one of the main providers of continuous training in European law. The Academy was founded at the initiative of the European Parliament and has the mission to promote the knowledge, understanding and correct application of EU law.
