EBRD supports Moldova with new 40 million euro instalment for road infrastructure

The Republic of Moldova will benefit from an additional 40 million euro funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), intended for the rehabilitation of the national road infrastructure. Members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission have approved the opinion for signing the amendment to the loan agreement concluded with the EBRD.

With this addition, the total value of the funding provided by the EBRD reaches 290 million euros. The funds will be used within the Road Rehabilitation in Moldova IV Project, which aims not only at the modernization works of the road network but also at providing consultancy services for implementation and technical supervision.

The national roads included in the project are: Road R14 and R6 (Codrul Nou – Soroca – Unguri – border with Ukraine), on Soroca – Arionești segment; Road R8.1, R8 (Arionești – R14), Arionești – Otaci sector; Road M3 (Chișinău – Comrat – Giurgiulești – border with Romania), in Vulcănești bypass area; Road R33 (Hîncești – Lăpușna – M1).

The initial agreement with the EBRD, signed and ratified in 2013, has been amended three times so far.
