Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The stock company Energocom has been nominated as central supplier of electric energy till 1 January 2021, under a decision approved by the cabinet today.

The present decision will enter into force as of 25 March 2018.

According to the document, the stock company Energocom will start working as central provider of electric energy on 1 April 2018. At the same time, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry is charged with the control over the fulfillment of this decision.

The main provision of the draft consists in the appointment of the stock company Energocom as central supplier of electric energy. The company will have basic powers, such as the purchasing from producer of electricity and the electric energy from renewable resources, at tariffs approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.

According to the informative note attached to the draft, the stock company Energocom is a functional enterprise with a long-lasting experience in supplying electric energy on the domestic market. The enterprise provides a part of the overall demand of electric energy consumed in Moldova from imports and from the power plant of the Transnistrian region.

The establishment of the central supplier of electric energy has at its basis the taking of the commitment by Moldova before the Energy Community as concerns the carrying out of an at least 17-per cent share of energy from renewable sources in the final gross consumption of energy till 2020. This commitment was subsequently transposed also in the law on the promotion of the use of renewable energy.
