Festival of berries, natural honey takes place in Moldovan capital this week-end
Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - Local producers of bee products and berries on 29-30 July convened in the Moldovan capital at the festival of berries and natural honey. The festival is organized by the public association, Moldova’s Berries, and the public association, National Association of Beekeepers from Moldova, with the support of the Moldova Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity (RCRA) of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
According to the head of the public association, Moldova’s Berries, Aneta Ganenco, this agricultural year is difficult for the producers of berries; yet, due to the persevering work of farmers, the harvest of berries is good quantitatively and qualitatively. ‘’We provide to visitors berries – this luxury fruit, natural and native, grown with great pleasure for the Chisinau residents and the capital’s guests,’’ Ganenco noted.
The festival is at its second edition and about 5,000 visitors are expected to come to the event. The festival is organized, in order to support the local producers, promote the native sound products and beneficial for the human organism, as well as to familiarize consumers with a wide range of products of farmers from Moldova.
Presently, there are about 7,000 beekeepers in Moldova, who manage 265,000 bee families, as well as 600 households specialized in the production of berries.
