Mircea Esanu leaves Public Services Agency to lead Moldova Project

Mircea Esanu is leaving his position as head of the Public Services Agency (ASP) to take over the leadership of Moldova Project – a new structure that will be responsible for implementing strategic projects. He emphasized that taking on the new position “is a huge responsibility and a rare opportunity – to contribute directly to the development of projects that will change not only the face of our country, but also the way it is anchored in European infrastructure.”

Mircea Esanu noted that the activity of the new institution would focus on implementing strategic infrastructure projects in transport, energy, healthcare, digitalization, the environment and education.

“I will soon conclude an important chapter in my professional life – five years during which I had the honor of serving as director of the ASP, out of the nine years since the institution was established. In the near future, we will rapidly develop a new public institution, whose symbolic name is Moldova Project. We will be responsible for implementing strategic infrastructure projects in transport, energy, healthcare, digitalization, the environment and education. This is a huge responsibility and a rare opportunity – to contribute directly to the development of projects that will change not only the face of our country, but also the way it is anchored in European infrastructure,” said the ASP head.

He thanked Prime Minister Vasile Tofan for the trust placed in him and emphasized that the success of this mission would depend on people – strong teams, professionalism, and the determination to build.

At the same time, Mircea Esanu said that the five years he spent at the helm of the ASP had been a period “of intense work, processes rebuilt or created from scratch, reforms initiated and brought to completion and very many challenges.”

“I did not join the public service for praise, but I admit that I feel a special sense of satisfaction when I see, even here in the online space, people expressing their gratitude for the way they were treated at ASP service counters. These are small signs, but they mean a great deal to me – because they show that the direction we chose was the right one. Of course, I know that there are still situations in which we do not meet expectations. But I strongly believe that an institution is measured by its ability not to remain anchored in the past, to constantly improve – and this is perhaps the most important thing I built at the ASP,” Esanu said.

The ASP head said that everything he had managed to accomplish while leading the institution was due to teamwork.

“Everything we managed to accomplish is the merit of a team. I sincerely thank my colleagues – those who believed in change, who worked with professionalism and dedication, and who made the ASP a more modern, more efficient institution that is closer to the people,” Mircea Esanu concluded.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan today said that the government would establish the Moldova Project institution, which will be responsible for implementing strategic projects. The official justified the decision by saying that major infrastructure projects must be implemented quickly and efficiently.
