Sunflower seeds and cables among Moldova’s top exports in first half of year
Exports from the Republic of Moldova exceeded 35 billion lei in the first six months of 2026, with sunflower seeds, wires and cables among the most exported products.
According to the Customs Service, the highest export value was recorded for sunflower seeds, totaling 4.9 billion lei. These were followed by wires and cables, with exports amounting to 4.7 billion lei.
The main exported goods also include wheat, with a value of 2.1 billion lei, corn, with 1.3 billion lei, and grape wines, which generated exports of 1.2 billion lei.
According to the institution, the Customs Service continues to facilitate legitimate trade flows and support exports of domestic products by implementing modern customs procedures.
One of the measures applied is the automated validation of export customs declarations. The procedure allows economic operators to submit declarations in electronic format, and the estimated clearance time is approximately 15 minutes, without the physical intervention of a customs officer.
The Customs Service states that the digitalization of customs processes aims to simplify formalities for the business environment and to streamline export operations.
