Moldova to benefit from three million dollars to increase agricultural productivity

Chisinau, June 9 / MOLDPRES /- Moldova will receive a grant of $ 3.105 million under the Moldova Agriculture Competitiveness Project. Parliament voted today in first reading Ratification of the Grant Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to the document, the money will be used to mitigate land degradation and increase agricultural productivity. The fourth funding of the project has several components: capacity building of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Ministry of Environment, grants for farmers and support for the rehabilitation of forest protection strips.

The agreement will be implemented by late 2024. The draft ratification will be voted on in the second reading.

Also during today's meeting, the MPs voted in the first reading on the draft ratification of two amendments to the Financing Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Development Association. The money will be reallocated for the technical improvement of the food safety laboratories in Chisinau and in the territorial offices.
