Moldova to implement new Twinning Project in agriculture in partnership with Estonia and Netherlands

A new Twinning project in agriculture was launched yesterday in Chișinău. It will be implemented by the Republic of Moldova in partnership with Estonia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with financial support from the European Union.

The project aims to improve the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Agency for Intervention and Payment in Agriculture (AIPA) in the harmonization with EU agricultural policies.

The launch event took place in the presence of Moldova’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga and Estonia’s Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture Hendrik Johannes Terras.

“Our commitment to reforming the agricultural system and supporting farmers is strong and confidently assumed. The objectives of this project are clearly defined and aligned with our priorities. More than just a technical assistance program, this project represents an exercise in mutual trust and inter-institutional cooperation. I appreciate the professionalism and dedication of the teams within the ministry and AIPA, who will work hand in hand with European experts already involved in an active process of joint learning and development. The results of this project will directly contribute to the modernization of the agri-food sector and will have a real impact on supporting farmers. All ministry actions are geared towards sustainable agriculture for the benefit of farmers,” said Ludmila Catlabuga.

The Estonian minister conveyed a message of support for Moldova’s efforts to move closer to the European Union.

“I wish you much success in integrating into the European Union, which our country began almost 30 years ago. I am convinced that we have much knowledge and experience to share, and fortunately, there will be even more opportunities for collaboration in the future, especially within European projects,” highlighted Hendrik Johannes Terras.

Representatives from the European Union Delegation, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as Estonian and Dutch experts involved in the project also spoke during the event. They presented the key objectives and activities to be carried out in the next two years to strengthen national payment system and align it with European best practices.
