Moldovan president in Calarasi says Moldova grows through work, investments

The central Calarasi district will benefit from 70 million lei for carrying out of projects which will continue the modernization of the district’s settlements. The money will be allocated through the European Village II Programme. President Maia Sandu today visited the Calarasi town and discussed with people who had earlier benefited from other infrastructure projects.

The Moldovan president referred also to the results of the European Village I programme, through which 50 million lei was earmarked.

„Today in Calarasi, I was with people who work, day after day, for the development of our communities. In the Calarasi district, the networks of aqueducts from Bahmut and Bravicea were extended, kindergartens were renovated in Harjauca, Radeni and Calarasi town, the community centres were renovated in Sipoteni and Sadova, public illumination was provided in Raciula and Niscani with the 50 million lei allocated through the European Village I programme. Through the European Village II programme, another 70 million lei is meant for the projects which will continue the modernization of the settlements from the district,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The Moldovan president visited also the Hoginesti settlement, where a modern sports complex will be constructed.

„In Hoginesti, I had a warm discussion with local residents, who appreciate the changes which improve the living in the village. A modern sports complex will be soon built here. I also visited the Vasilii Gonciari Potter’s House – a nice example of how tradition becomes engine for tourism. Moldova grows through work and investments and we will continue supporting our people and settlements,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The European Village Ii Programme was launched in 2024, with 712 projects selected. The overall investments in the European Village I and II programmes exceed 5 billion lei, of which 4.5 billion was allocated from the state budget and 500 million is local public authorities’ contribution.

Also, for the 2025 year, the government earmarked more than 700 million lei for the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, up by 100 million lei against the year before.
