Clean Forest Campaign conducted nationwide in Moldova

The Clean Forest Campaign, launched by the Environment Ministry, today took place in all Moldova’s districts. The action aimed to promote respect for forests and environmental protection.

The Environment Ministry’s team actively participated in the cleanup action in the Durlesti forest, proving by personal example that change begins with each of us. At the same time, the first signs and markers for tourist routes were set in the area.

Environment Minister Sergiu Lazarencu said mentioned that such initiatives aimed to change people's behavior and attitude towards forests.

"The Forest Generation is not just about planting, but also about taking care of our forests. A person who has participated in a forest cleanup action even once is definitely someone who will never allow themselves to leave trash behind," said Sergiu Lazarencu.

The minister noted that this initiative should become a tradition and people should get used to going to clean the forests where they relax every spring and autumn.

"We all enjoy spending time in nature and what we can offer in return to nature is simple – to leave it clean behind us. I will issue an order for the Clean Forest action to take place on the last weekend of April," Sergiu Lazarencu added.

The Clean Forest Campaign took place simultaneously in all districts of the  country. The Environmental Protection Inspectorate conducted the action in forests belonging to the municipalities, while the 24 Forestry Enterprises cleaned forests managed by the Moldsilva Forestry Agency.
