Last day of voting at Romania's presidential elections: voters expected at polls

The 64 polling stations open in Moldova for Romania’s presidential elections have started their activity. Today is the last day for citizens to exercise their right to vote at the Romanian presidential polls.

By 8:00, over 34,400 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship had exercised their right to vote, being among the most active voters from the Diaspora. About 403,000 Romanians from outside the country have participated in the election in all by this time.

In Moldova, 64 polling stations are open, operating during 7:00-21:00. For this election, five more stations have been organized compared to the elections held in late 2024.  Thus, in the northern region of the country, 18 polling stations are open, in the central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 in Chisinau, and in the southern region - 8 polling stations.

To be able to vote at the presidential elections, citizens must present one of the following documents: identity card, electronic identity card, provisional identity card, identity bulletin, diplomatic passport, electronic diplomatic passport, service passport, electronic service passport, ordinary passport, electronic ordinary passport, temporary ordinary passport, military service card (for students from military schools).

At the 965 polling stations abroad, organized for this year's presidential elections, Romanian citizens who are abroad on day of elections can vote, regardless of whether they have or do not have residency or domicile outside the country.

Romanian citizens in the Diaspora have three days available to vote. For the first round – on 2, 3, and 4 May, and in the case of the second round – on 16, 17 and 18 May. Eleven candidates participate in the presidential race.
