PHOTO // New opportunities for agricultural cooperation in Italy; Moldovan agriculture minister visits Agri-Food Center in Rome, company in region

Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ludmila Catlabuga visited the Agri-Food Center in Rome today. It is one of the most important agri-food platforms in Italy for wholesale trade with food products.

The center connects agricultural producers, wholesale traders, distributors and operators in the food sector. Here, fruits, vegetables and fish products are received, inspected, stored and directed to markets, shops, restaurants and other professional buyers.

Also today, the minister visited an agricultural company of the region that manages approximately 3,200 hectares of land cultivated with cereals, forage crops and vegetables. The company operates in the livestock sector, focusing on milk production, as well as in crop production, applying modern sustainable farming practices.

"For Moldova, such examples are useful in discussions on developing cooperation among producers, strengthening post-harvest services and identifying solutions that can help farmers reach markets more easily, through associative forms, commercial partnerships and infrastructure adapted to local capacities," said Ludmila Catlabuga.

During Minister Ludmila Catlabuga’s visit to Rome, a new agreement was also signed to support Moldovan farmers. The document provides for measures that will help agricultural producers of Moldova to process and market agri-food products, in line with European requirements and international quality standards.

Ludmila Catlabuga also participated in the Moldova–Italy Agribusiness Forum in Rome on May 21. At the event, she presented the development opportunities of the agricultural and agri-food sector of Moldova and the prospects for economic cooperation with Italian partners.
