President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu took part on May 21 in the 21st edition of the GLOBSEC Forum, held in Prague on May 21–23, 2026, under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, with over 1,800 participants from nearly 80 countries. One of the most influential international forums in Central and Eastern Europe, GLOBSEC brings together heads of state, decision-makers, business leaders, and visionaries to generate solutions to the most pressing geopolitical challenges of the moment.

On the sidelines of the event, President Sandu held a bilateral meeting with her Czech counterpart, Petr Pavel. The two leaders confirmed the solid nature of the Moldovan–Czech partnership, marked by well-developed economic relations, growing trade, and strengthened cooperation in the fields of security and defense. The Czech Republic remains a steadfast supporter of Moldova’s European path.

The President also took part in a panel dedicated to the Republic of Moldova, where she shared the lessons learned by our country in countering foreign interference and hybrid threats. The Head of State emphasized that external interference in elections in Moldova is a warning signal for the whole of Europe—especially for countries that are due to hold electoral contests over the course of 2027.

Within the forum, the President was awarded the GLOBSEC Award, alongside the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. GLOBSEC justified granting the award to Maia Sandu by citing her “commitment to defending democracy under pressure and her role in anchoring Moldova’s future in stability and reforms.” The Head of State dedicated the distinction to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: “To those who have fought for democracy for three decades, to those who, through their vote, removed autocrats and oligarchs from power. And to those who voted for Europe despite Russian pressure and threats—to those who refused to be bought or intimidated. And to those who go to work every day. I am here because of them. It is an honor to represent them.”
